Milk Bar Mondays – Chocolate Chocolate Cookies

July 16, 2012
Yesterday I was baking these cookies and working out at the same time.  I know, weird.  It’s as if I working off the cookies I was about to eat.  But I don’t work out to lose weight, or work off my food, I work out to stay healthy.  So it’s ok that I was baking a buttery, sugary, chocolaty cookie, while doing squats.
This weeks Milk Bar Monday recipe was chosen by Cassie from Bake Your Day.  It’s a Chocolate Chocolate Cookie that is basically like eating a brownie in cookie form.  They are soft and chewy and have a slightly gooey center.
I think the key to the cookies is the chocolate.  I used a good quality Valhrona chocolate {as suggested by Tosi and because it’s my favorite chocolate} and the chocolate flavor was spot on.  Not too bitter or chocolaty, but perfect to get across the deep chocolate flavor needed in this delicious cookie.
As recommended by my fellow Milk Bar Monday girl, Audra, I cut down the butter by 2 tablespoons in the recipe.  I believe this allowed the cookies to not spread too thin and bake up perfectly.
If you’re a chocolate fan, or even just a cookie fan, you need to try this recipe.  Head on over to Cassie’s blog for the recipe.

Love these cookies the best out of all of the milkbar monday cookie recipes.  They are thick and incredibly soft!  I like yours and Audra’s thinking of cutting down the butter by 2 Tbsp.  Sometimes Tosi’s amount of butter scares me haha!

Wooo these look so gooey, and tasty.  And for the record, there is nothing wrong with working out and baking. While they bake you have time for crunches, squats, what have  you. I love it!

I agree with you, I think that the Valhrona chocolate makes a huge difference. These look amazing Krissy!  I didn’t reduce the amount of butter in mine but I think they came out looking very similar. I almost wonder if atmosphere and geography have anything to do with it!?

I can tell from looking at the cookie you took a bite from (yes, you) that it’s super gooey and moist! Looks fantastic 🙂 Great post!

Yup, you’re so right:  the quality of the cocoa powder makes a HUGE difference. Your cookies are GORGEOUS as always, Krissy!

Working out & baking sounds like a good combo to me! I think I want to remake these because everyone else’s cookies look much more fudgey than mine. Yours look like they have the perfect chewy edge too!

These look perfect and amazing, and I always LOVE your photos! I try to do a bit of stretching when baking and waiting for things to heat or beat or something, but squats would probably do well in my repertoire too. I should have used better chocolate and cocoa in mine – they were scrumptious but better quality chocolate would have brought them to a new level. Will definitely be making them again.
